This project calls for the re-establishment of a mixed use coastal village around the wonderfully intimate existing marina for this California waterfront town. The design prioritizes place making and walkable, active streets, squares, and parks. Key programmatic elements including an urban market hall complex and a small scale hotel provide landmarks that activate the primary public spaces. Topography is manipulated to raise the site above storm surges as well to provide a dramatic waterfront esplanade park with grand stairs serving as theatre seating for waterfront festivals and concerts.
